  • Our Birth Philosophy

    Birth Philosophy

Everyone deserves a positive birth experience. Pregnancy is a natural part of a woman’s life, not an illness. Support and encouragement help a woman trust her body and instincts, allowing her to give birth freely. Medical interventions should be used only when necessary and with care, unless birth takes an unexpected course.

    Core Birth Concepts

    Birth is a human right.

Birth is a normal physiological proces.

Person-centered care includes shared decision-making, informed consent, and the right to refuse.

Resilience improves the experience of birth and outcomes.

  • Why should I choose Kingdom Birth Services?

I encourage all clients and those exploring their options to take their time making a decision. When you’re ready, follow your spirit, head, and heart. If those three align and you feel at peace, that’s your sign that working with me is the right choice.

  • What is a doula?

A doula is a trained birth coach who provides physical, emotional, educational, and advocacy support to pregnant individuals before, during, and after childbirth. Some doulas also offer spiritual support as needed or upon request.

  • Are there benefits to having a doula?

Doula care is associated with positive birth outcomes, including reduced cesarean sections, epidural use, shorter labor, and fewer premature deliveries. Doulas also provide emotional support that can lower stress and anxiety during labor. However, no birth outcome can be guaranteed—every birth is unique, and your experience may vary.

  • Comfort Measures for Labor: Do you offer a TENS unit?

Yes. A TENS unit may be used as an optional comfort support tool during active labor, when available. For hygiene and safety, each client uses new, single-use electrode pads. Some clients receive pads as part of their service package; however, electrode pads are not a covered insurance benefit and may need to be purchased separately depending on coverage. This does not affect the level, quality, or scope of labor support provided.

  • Comfort Measures: Do you offer essential oils during labor?

Essential oils may be used as an optional comfort measure during labor in limited circumstances and only when appropriate. Any use is guided by safety considerations, individual sensitivity, and informed consent. Essential oils are not a required or guaranteed part of labor support, and availability may vary.

Additional information and consent requirements will be reviewed with clients prior to use.

  • Do I need to be Christian to receive care or take classes with Kingdom Birth Services?

No, we welcome anyone seeking a personalized, professional, and supportive experience. For Christian families, special content and opportunities are available to incorporate faith into care or the curriculum.

  • Faith-Based Support: How is faith included in client care when desired?

Faith-based support is offered when welcomed by the client and may include scripture, prayer, and spiritually grounded encouragement rooted in Christian faith and Christ’s love. I may also draw from my written work and teaching resources as I guide women to give birth with confidence, courage, and peace.

Faith-based care is always client-led, optional, and offered alongside evidence-informed education and emotional support. My approach honors both spiritual formation and practical preparation, recognizing that faith and skilled support can coexist with care, wisdom, and discernment.

  • What are the benefits of taking a childbirth class?

The benefits of taking a childbirth class have been documented in research. "Benefits of prenatal education classes have included increased confidence for labor and birth among women who attended prenatal classes, higher likelihood of breastfeeding, improved communication between childbearing women and their maternity care providers, decreased need for analgesic medication in labor, and increased satisfaction with birth."
Stoll, K. H., & Hall, W. (2012). Childbirth education and obstetric interventions among low-risk canadian women: is there a connection?. The Journal of perinatal education, 21(4), 229–237. https://doi.org/10.1891/1058-1243.21.4.229

    Childbirth classes can help you:
    Lower your risk of:
    • Preventable complications
    • Early birth (before 40 weeks)
    • Unnecessary cesarean surgery
    Increase your chances of:
    • Having a full-term, healthy baby
    • Starting and maintaining a successful breastfeeding relationship
    • Feeling confident as a parent
    • Making well-informed decisions about your pregnancy and birth
    • Communicating effectively with your healthcare team
  • Who should take childbirth education classes?

Childbirth classes are for anyone who wants to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare them to make better birth choices. They direct your focus to what is most useful for you during pregnancy and birth.

  • I’ve already read books or watched videos. Will a childbirth class still help me?

Childbirth classes can be very helpful, even if you’ve read or watched videos. They teach you what to expect and how to make informed decisions with your doctor or midwife.

    In class, you’ll learn:

    • Questions to ask your care team

    • How to care for yourself during pregnancy and after birth

    • Ways to prepare for labor

    • Newborn care and breastfeeding

Not everything online is correct or helpful. Taking a class can give you reliable information. Studies show that women who take classes often have fewer elective inductions and a better birth experience.

Classes also connect you with someone who can answer your personal questions and support you through pregnancy and birth.

  • I’m due in less than two weeks. Is it worth taking a class?

Yes, we offer a personalized, focused session that covers exactly what you want to learn in a short period of time. This lets you get the key information and skills you need right before your birth without committing to a full-length class.

  • Will these classes be helpful if I've given birth before?

Yes, every pregnancy and birth experience is unique. It's a chance to try something new or change something you didn't like before.

  • Do you use evidence based resources?

I use the My Doula Visit Workbook with clients, created by Evidence Based Birth. We regularly update the resources we use to stay current with research and recommendations related to pregnancy, physiologic birth, breastfeeding, and early parenting. Resources may include March of Dimes, Childbirth Connections, Evidence Based Birth, and others.

  • Is there a recommended reading or resource list?

Click here to review our recommended books. A complete list of resources is available to our clients. They may include books, podcasts, videos, articles and/or websites.

  • What are the benefits of bundling services?

Bundling our services offers numerous benefits for expecting families. You can bundle doula care with childbirth classes and/or perinatal coaching. By choosing a bundle, you receive a discount when you combine two or more services. This ensures comprehensive support throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period.
