  • Our Birth Philosophy

    Birth Philosophy

Everyone deserves a positive birth experience. Pregnancy is a natural part of a woman’s life, not an illness. Support and encouragement help a woman trust her body and instincts, allowing her to give birth freely. Medical interventions should be used only when necessary and with care, unless birth takes an unexpected course.

    Core Birth Concepts

    • Birth is a human right

    • Birth is a normal physiological process

    • Person-centered care includes shared decision-making, informed consent, and the right to refuse.

    • Resilience improves the experience of birth and outcomes

  • What is a doula?

A doula is a trained birth coach who provides physical, emotional, educational, and advocacy support to pregnant individuals before, during, and after childbirth. Some doulas also offer spiritual support as needed or upon request.

  • Are there benefits to having a doula?

Yes, doula care is associated with positive birth outcomes, including reduced caesarean sections, epidural use, labor duration, and premature deliveries. Doulas also provide emotional support that can lower stress and anxiety during labor.

  • Do I need to be Christian to receive care or take classes with Kingdom Birth Services?

No. We welcome anyone seeking a personalized, professional, and supportive experience. For Christian families, special content and opportunities are available to incorporate faith into care or the curriculum.

  • Who should take childbirth education classes?

Childbirth classes are for anyone who wants to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare them to make better birth choices. They direct your focus to what is most useful for you during pregnancy and birth.

  • I’ve read books and watched YouTube videos. Do I still need to take a childbirth class?

Childbirth classes can be very helpful, even if you’ve read or watched videos. They teach you what to expect and how to make informed decisions with your doctor or midwife.

    In class, you’ll learn:

    • Questions to ask your care team

    • How to care for yourself during pregnancy and after birth

    • Ways to prepare for labor

    • Newborn care and breastfeeding

Not everything online is correct or helpful. Taking a class can give you reliable information. Studies show that women who take classes often have fewer elective inductions and a better birth experience.

Classes also connect you with someone who can answer your personal questions and support you through pregnancy and birth.

  • I’m due in less than two weeks. Is it worth taking a class?

Yes! I offer a personalized, focused session that covers exactly what you want to learn in a short period of time. This lets you get the key information and skills you need right before your birth without committing to a full-length class.

  • Do you use evidence based resources?

I use the My Doula Visit Workbook with clients, created by Evidence Based Birth. We regularly update the resources we use to stay current with research and recommendations related to pregnancy, physiologic birth, breastfeeding, and early parenting. Resources may include March of Dimes, Childbirth Connections, Midwifery Research, Evidence Based Birth, and others.
